Goal:
This program has been specifically designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of Port Security
Supervisory personnel performing duties as defined in section A/ 17 of the ISPS Code and detailed
under 46 CFR et al.

Objectives:
Successful participants will be better able to undertake their duties and responsibilities through
increasing both academic skills and technical knowledge in the following areas:
          A. Role of the Security Supervisor;
          B. Conducting the Port Facility Security survey;
          C. Managing an effective workforce;
          D. Implementing and exercising the Port Facility Security Plan;
          E. Conducting regular security inspections of the facility to ensure  the continuation of appropriate measures
          F. Implementing and maintaining the Port Security Awareness Program;
          G. Maintaining an In-house training program in accordance with section A/13 and A/18 of the ISPS Code;
          H. Maintaining required records, inspections and activity logs
          I. Coordinating with, and assisting CSO’s, SSO’s and appropriate security  agencies;
          J. Developing an effective security budget, budget requests and assessments;

Entry Requirements:
Students must have successfully completed 125-72510 Port Facility Security Officer Basic or similar
accredited program.

Course Certificate:
Each student will be subject to both a pre-test and post-test evaluation.  Students must demonstrate
successful measure of knowledge on the post-test instrument.  All students successfully completing
the program will receive both a Certificate and appropriately annotated training record for file.

Course Delivery:
The program is presented as a combination of lecture (25%), student hands on (60%) and multi-
media presentations (15%).  

Staff Requirements:
The Instructor in charge: Francis G Spranza has experience in maritime security and intimate
knowledge of the requirements of Chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 as amended in the ISPS Code and US
46 CFR.  This program requires two (2) instructors.

Program Includes: Tabletop Security Exercises, One (1) Full Scale Exercise, Administrative CD
Rom of useful forms, checklists and documents IAW ISPS Code and 46 CFR.  All training materials
remain copyright property of Spranza, Inc.

Program Duration: 40 instructional hours

Teaching Facilities and equipment:
The program requires the use of an ordinary classroom, audio-visual equipment and actual facility
environment for selected segments of training.  Students are to report on selected days involving
scenario exercises - in full utility uniform with personal issue equipment items.
